Questions

1What time of year is best for kayaking in Kenya?
Our rainy seasons are October/November and April/May so if you want to explore Kenya by kayak come during this period. The Tana river runs all year round, so if you want to learn to Kayak we can hold the course at any time of year.
2What is the temperature of the water?
Our tropical climate is perfect for kayaking, you will be in board shorts and a shirt. But pack a dry top or shorty cag for any Mt Kenya trips where the rivers are on the chilly side.
3Is Kayaking Dangerous?
All adventure sports come with an element of risk, however, at Savage Wilderness, we minimize this risk by assigning you a qualified instructor who will keep you on the right rivers for your ability.
4Are there dangerous animals in the water?
All the rivers we Kayak on are up in the mountainous areas of Kenya, they are also all fairly populated, which means it is very unlikely for you to come across crocodiles or hippos while on the river. Please consult with us first before doing a trip so we can advise the likelihood of their being wildlife.
